Inspirational week so far

What a week so far....started off not too good but then just got better....the icing on the cake was the joy of seeing all the Chilean miners rescued safely. It was so uplifting to turn on the news and hear something truly amazing. It puts into perspective life in general.

Had a lovey day yesterday in the studio.. quite demanding though as I was audited as part of my Environmental Quality Mark awarded by the Peak District National Park. Two and a half hours but worth it as I am passionate about the ethical side of my business.

The grand finale yesterday was the sale of one of my favourite paintings....Love is in the Air. This is was inspired by the ladybird balloon which often flies over my home...plus is one of the fragrances from my Bath Body & Boudoir Range...Lemon and Honey.

I wonder what today will bring?

had a good day yesterday despite the rain...had my first delivery of reindeer....gorgeous .made me smile as each one has its own hand knitted scarf and twigs for legs.....bless.

Have lots more Christmas stock coming in but don't fear..."Christmas" stuff wont be on display until late October....we've got Halloween first.

I am now taking orders for these handmade Driftwood Christmas Trees...each one is unique and sits on a pebble with a real starfish on the top...small £25 (1ft approx) or large £45 (2.5ft approx)...handmade here in Derbyshire

Getting Buried with new Stock!!!

My poor workstation is continually getting buried as more and more new stock keeps arriving............

have three commissions to work on now....all lovely House Portraits and I am dying to get painting.........plus trying to finish painting personalised mugs........better not grumble though eh..better than sat here twiddling my thumbs

Coffee with a View

Some days are too cold for my customers to sit outside with a coffee and admire the view so I have made them a lovely area to sit and ponder and linger longer......

Two girly bar stools, a gorgeous view and a sunny spot too on a good day..... pop in and test them!

Gone Surfing!!!

That's the name of one of my VW paintings but its also what we are doing this Bank Holiday.

We are heading off to see the sea and the forecasts for both Sun and Surf are looking good....were in the campervan and tent so hope they've not got it wrong.

Where has Summer Gone

I've been back from holiday a week and feel as though that was it for Summer.

Had 2 lovely weeks in Cornwall, the sun was out, the sky was blue the surf was up....

this photo was taken at 8.45 pm after we'd been surfing and were having a BBQ on the beach. The same time this week we were sat at home with a roaring fire and it was dark outside

.....how weird is that?

Ideas & Inspiration

I am now back in the studio after 2 lovely weeks in Cornwall. My head is now full of ideas for new paintings and new products....just need more time eh.

Have just put out the latest additions to The Studio 61 Textile Collection........cute spotty and stripey Tea cosies and Egg Cosies with my VWs and Home Sweet Home paintings.

These have been designed and made in Derbyshire exclusively for me and are only available here........I can imagine the VW tea cosy looking great in an old split screen or bay...

A Big Thanks

Had a busy day with my Mum restocking the jewellery cabinets. I can't believe how many different styles I have in.. ....they are all gorgeous, handmade and British. Here is just a very small selection....

Summer is Here

I'm loving the sunshine and now looking forward to my holiday in Cornwall. My new window display is called The Seaside.

Have lots of lovely seaside themed stock in now which is great and my customers are loving it.... we could not be further from the sea so this brings the sea to Derbyshire.

My Guest Exhibitions on at the momet are both exciting.

Justine Nettleton's dramatic paintings are inspired by her time spent in West Park in Long Eaton, Nottingham.

The Guest Designer is Renee Kilburns beautiful ceramics. These are hand made and then prettily hand painted.... the effect is stunning. This picture shows just a few of the pieces on display.

Seaside Collection

Its raining and cold here in Derbyshire but Ive been painting more pieces for the the Seaside Collection which makes me feel happier..and warmer.

The seaside range from my HeART Ceramics are going down really well...... we could not be more distant from the sea here in Derbyshire but folk must be buying them to remind them of their holidays and sunnier times.

New Jewellery Exhibition of Gorgeous Textiles

My Guest Jewellery Designer this month is Lorraine Tolmie. Her work is gorgeous....micro crochet and textile creations. Lorraine has used hand dyed merino wool in some of her work and the results are stunning.

There are a wide range of items for sale such as necklaces, bracelets and corsages..... they look lovely........ all welcome to pop along and see for yourself.

Open Wed-Sat 9.30-4.30 and the coffee machine is always on

Derbyshire Open Arts

Having a great weekend so far as the Derbyshire Open Arts event is on this Bank Holiday weekend........there are 9 artists including me exhibiting and demonstrating.

Its a great atmosphere with two rooms full of artwork....so if you fancy popping along the more the merrier...

on Sat-Monday 11 til 5. Free Admission and a Tea Room serving fabulous cakes.

Another busy week with lots of new stock arriving............. even more fabulous handbags being brought in for the Boutique area. Bags n More "buy, sell, recycle" ....compliments my recycling theme. The designer bags are pre-owned with names such as Radley, Kipling, Guess, Jane Shilton, Fat Face, Butler & Wilson to name a few.

This is so popular ... a good way to sort out the bottom of your wardrobe and get some money back.

Where's the Sun

The Sun has disappeared today and it's raining. Getting my fix of Sun and blue skies by looking at my photos from Cornwall.

Taken last year at Minnack Theatre.. we went back one evening to watch a Comedy and got put in the "birds nest". Its the little stone balcony..look above the man in blue on the stage go three steps up. My daughter was soooo embarrassed. Had a flashback to The Muppets.. remember the two grumpy old men

The courtyard is a lovely sunny spot and will soon be filled with tubs, flowers and hanging baskets all for sale and lovingly grown on a farm on The Chatsworth Estate.

I now sell their gorgeous aromatic gifts such as Dream Pillows filled with lavender, pot pouri jars filled with rose petals and topped with vintage material........... with more stock arriving.

I love them. Not only are they produced in Derbyshire but with prices starting at £4.95 they make great unusual gifts not available on the high street.

Vintage & British Window Display

The new window display has gone down well with my customers today.

Quite apt as Ive realised its St Georges Day.

All Change ...all this in one day!

I've put up a new exhibition today by Keith Wright - Photographic Artist. Keith's photographs have a dreamlike quality due to a technique he has used.. not done in photoshop either. These images are inspired by his childhood memories of Woollaton Park in Nottingham. Please pop in and have a look if you can.

Also loved doing the new window display... gone all Vintage and British..... Dame Vera Lyn would love it.. me thinks...plus ready for St Georges Day.

New Designer

One of my new designers is the lovely Lorraine from Glass Art. As well as smaller items ie rings and hangings one of her large design pieces is this stunning glass curve.... all blues and gorgeous.

I have lots of other new designers in board......all great work... hand made of course...... will be blogging about them soon.

All Quiet on the Western Front

A funny day today....... hardly any cars going by just lots of walkers popping in....but a quiet day has given me time to catch up with emails and ordering new paints for my ceramics.

Also got more goodies being made for me by my mate Elaine......a lovely new range of Room Fragrances........... again "my paintings inspired fragrances" like the rest of my range....... this month Gone for A Dip seems to be selling best...... lovely & subtle Lavender & Bergomot and 100% natural.

New Products

Word is out that I have reopened and am now in- undated with enquiries from artists and designers.

One appointment today was with a lovely lady from Minxenamels who hand makes dichroic glass and guess what.. she loves VWs and has a T25 who is even older than Stan (he's my T4 VW campervan.. come on keep up!!!)

I now have some of her lovely glass jewellery and some funky VW and hearts glass coasters. Also been talking about getting my paintings of the buses (VW talk) onto her glass........... exciting eh!!!

Guest Artist

I've put a new exhibition up today..... by Mark Crowfoot. Large Oils on Canvas. Very bold & dramatic. On until 17 April. He specialises in portraits.

Been a lovely day with lots of locals popping in for a look....coffee machine working a treat.
